Next!!

I am going to do a total post-Con costume debrief for Giovanni to evaluate how well it held up but it's in the city, along with my camera and I am sitting on the veranda of the 'Rents' place, seeking some shade from the heat of the day, with the Captain underneath my feet. Life's tough, man.

Anyways, I think it's high time to introduce the next projects. I don't have an order determined yet but these are the things I've been thinking about.

The Must-Do's

1490s leather arming vest.
So I finally have a proper means of keeping my cuisses and greaves up. This will be a comparatively easy project. Lots of hand-sewing leather but it shouldn't take more than five or six evenings.

Marius Leitdorf - Complete Version
Old Marius looks presentable but he isn't finished in his current state. I'm still going to push ahead with the foam form for the breast-and-back plate. Drew up a sketch the other day for the complete version:

It's going to be a tough go but hawt dayum, it'll be Games Day-worthy when it's done! Lots of tooling but I don't mind.

The Want-To-Do's
Leonardo da Vinci, Assassin's Creed II

I originally hoped to do Leo for CCEE this year but Giovanni proved much longer than anticipated, as Marius can testify. But this still needs to happen. Being blond and freckly myself, it'll be one of those things I can pull off with minimal makeup (apart from the beard). Will probably swipe Gio's boots for him but the rest will have to be made from scratch. I'm tempted to go as period as I can with the fabrics. Linen for the shirt, wool for the cape, a lovely gray velvet for the tunic. And leather of course for the accessories.

Maximilian I, Hunting Kit
I have had the fabric for this project for over a year now but just never got around to starting it. Maximilian, Holy Roman Emperor (1508-1519), for those readers new to the scene, liked hunting. A lot. Apart from his younger years, he was never really a showy man and when he was out making things dead, he usually wore a non-descript, grubby, gray hunting gown and hood.

Stylish Emperor is stylish. I made some 'hunting kit' last summer but I've always wanted something closer to what he wore. Mostly so I can grub it up myself when riding and have it look like the sexy kit the European re-enactors wear. And because it's Maximilian, go figure.

The REALLY Want-To-Do's
The Doctor, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
A few months back, I mentioned a Supah Sekrit costume that would be made if I got Gio AND Marius finished before Con. Well, we all know that totally happened... But this of all the potential costumes I could build next, this is probably the One. Let me introduce you to the Doctor aka Malfatto from ACII: Brotherhood.

Jesusonabike, I want to do this costume. The whole design is so elegant but with a good dose of terrifying in there too. I would die of heatstroke at Con but man, though, the gloves, the belt, the scary plague doctor mask. Mwahahaha.

I bought the fabric for this about three months ago when I was on a Fabricland run to get more of the white cotton for Gio's shirt. They had a fake-suede olive green polyester that was just perfect and I couldn't pass it up. I thought I could line it with black linen to make it breathe better but that might be a waste of time/money when the poly wouldn't breath well in the first place.

The mask will be tricky but not impossible. Will probably sculpt it out of clay, take a mold, and then roto-cast it out of something or the other.

I've already got a cassock pattern, the gloves can be bought, the syringe can be bought (eBay is turning up good finds already), and the footwear certainly isn't a problem.

Now it's just a matter of sitting down at the sewing machine again...

Stay tuned!
